What is TeleHealth?
Our TeleHealth service enables us to monitor your health from our control centre, reducing the amount of hospital and/or surgery visits you need to make. It also allows medical staff to make an early diagnosis of a health-related issue that may have developed and take appropriate action.
The service is particularly useful to those with long-term health conditions, such as:
- Heart-related health issues
- Stroke-related health issues
- Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
The TeleHealth monitor works through an existing telephone line. At an agreed time, the monitor will alert you to take your vital signs and answer some questions relating to your health. This information is then sent to MCG's control centre via your monitor, where it is automatically checked for any variances. Medical staff are quickly alerted if there are any discrepancies, allowing them to take immediate action if required.
All the information recorded by your TeleHealth monitor is passed on to medical staff every week. In some cases, clinicians will be able to access this information remotely whenever necessary by using a secure log-in.
TeleHealth monitors typically record your:
- Body temperature
- Blood pressure
- Respiratory rate
- Glucose levels.
Each monitor is set-up to record information relating to your own specific health condition. It can also remind you to take your medication.
